Situated on the North side of MacDonald Ave., just West of Pim St., sits Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. We are the only Church in Sault Ste. Marie that is open 24 hours/day - you will never find our front doors locked, and there is always someone praying in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
There is ample parking in our lot (expanded in 2007 with the addition of handicap spaces), found on the North side of our building. In 2008, there will be added spots for pregnant mothers or parents with babies.
Our award winning grounds, with gardens and fountains, are a place of prayer and reflection. The Stations of the Cross were rebuilt in 2007, and take the visitor through the heart of the Parish property.
Inside is found, quite arguably, the most beautiful Catholic Church in the Sault. The artwork, stained glass windows (newly restored in 2006), and traditional setting all lend the worshipper to an experience of awe, most fitting of our God Who loves us so much, that He gave His only begotten Son that we might be saved.
We have the latest sound equipment (newly installed in 2006), one of the best electronic organs in the Diocese, a fabulous choir, and a warm and welcoming community of worshippers.
Ours is the only Catholic Church in the Sault which is fully air conditioned for your worshipping comfort. This is true also of our Perpetual Adoration Chapel and our 'Quiet Room'.
For those who wish, our newly built 'quiet room' (2006), located in our choir loft, provides comfort for those with children who love to worship God with loud voices and actions. There are many ways to pray, after all, but not all parents are comfortable when their young ones seem disruptive. This room was built with your needs in mind.
Our hall is fully functioning and well used for Parish events throughout the year. We are a very active Parish, representative of a cross section of Sault Ste. Marie's population. We are always open to visitors who wish to come and worship with us, in Spirit and in truth. Come and visit us - we look forward to meeting you.
